The Dude Abides
Ok so now i got my awsome disc brakes on but i have a problem. The rear center covers dont fit quite right. There about 1/4 of an inch off. So my question is how bad would it be on the rear assembly, wheels, brakes whatever if i threw 2 maybe 3 good sized washers on the lugnuts then put the wheel on. IM not going for huge offset here just want my centers to fit properly. If this is to hard on the car obviously i wont do it but ive seen hotrodders do it to certain cars. Not saying its smart just saying its been done before. Your thoughts.
bheinen74
this in not a good idea. leave the centers off for now. there should be a way to make them fit by modding the centers dont use washers on a wheel mount

bratsrus1
Hi This is Jerry, if you want to space your wheel out then you need to use a wheel spacer. They come in many different sizes. Go to a tire shop they should have them in stock or can get them in a day or two. Thanks Jerry
The Dude Abides
y are spacers better then washers
baccaruda
spacers have more stability due to more surface area making contact. I've had 1" bolt-on wheel spacers on my car for about 8 months now with no problems. slip-on spacers are less safe for a few reasons.

TheLoyale
Yes I wouldn't use any washers on the lug studs (To me it would put to much stess on the lugs and studs) I wouldn't use spacers either. What covers/caps are you using? and can you see why they are hitting so they don't go flush? I can't think of any reason why the covers wouldn't fit now, theres nothing in the way on the rear disc brakes (Like the front) I can see them hitting if you had the rear drums with that extra lip on them (Like mine) Can you post a picture or two? -Tom
Txakura
spacers price vs washers price what's the cost of losing a wheel and coming to a three legged stop? (giving you a bad time, don't take it seriously) just leave the center caps off for now

Tire shops around here would have to special order anything on this old of Subaru, and there is no way to special order for a car that they dont have in the books, can't order parts for a car they don't have listed in the books. It would take a board member here to order them for Ben, and ship to him. And, it looks as if center caps are now options on a DL, and your will not have them Put a Llama somewhere
