loonysalmon
Hi all! I'm looking to replace the ECU for my 89 XT. I understand that the model number for these is 22611 AA640, however my question was related to another number on the part. On the label, under the 22611 AA640 part, there is another number-- A11-000 152. I was wondering if when replacing the ECU if this number had to be the same. I was doing some searching for replacement parts on http://www.car-part.com and found that there were some other numbers, like A11-000 R46 and others. I guess my question is, can I use an ECU other than the A11-000 152? 86subaru send me a message before that he had a 22611 AA640 but it came out of a turbo XT. I was unsure if that would work or not and he has yet to respond to the message I sent yesterday asking for the other numbers on the ECU. Thanks a lot in advance. -Tom
idosubaru
If you need an 89 XT ECU, any 88, 89, 90, or 91 ECU should work. Auto and manual trans doesn't matter, they're interchangeable. Do not use a Turbo ECU, that's a 1987.5 ECU, and well it's a turbo.
loonysalmon
Thanks a lot Gary. Can somebody else confirm this please? -Tom
GeneralDisorder
Subaru ECU's are generally very interchangeable. As Gary says you can expect any non-turbo XT ECU to work just fine. GD
idosubaru
Confirmation - ha ha!!! As Gary says you can expect any non-turbo XT ECU to work just fine. GD I wouldn't use any 1985-1987 ECU's, I don't think they'll work.
loonysalmon
Thanks--I found an 22611 AA520 ECU for $30 from an 88 XT. I'm going to ask them if it came from a non-turbo XT and then I'll be purchasing that. I need a car ASAP as my Honda needs CV joints, front struts, exhaust manifolt, muffler, and a new O2 sensor. Obviously, if I can get the XT working I'll be saving myself about $400 in parts. Wish me luck
GeneralDisorder
Right - I should have said "any non-turbo, hot-wire MAF, XT ECU's" GD
