P K
Hi there, sorry to name names (ref Seinfeld? ha) Anyway, I am sure you can help. I am replacing my 2.2 NA in my 1990 AWD 5 spd Legacy. I am going with a JDM, and the EJ22 is $800, and the EJ20 (SOHC NA) is $450. I am told they are dimensionally identical and I can use my intake, exhaust, ECU, etc for smog compliance and it should run just fine. Here's where I would like another expert opinion. The EJ20 is a JDM not offered in USA. This is supposedly the SOHC non-turbo, run-of-the-mill engine that they have high quantities of, hence the much lower price. Can I get your opinion, please? thanks, PK p.s. others feel free to chime in too

Very common for use in legacies in Japan and Oz.. thus easy availability
Legacy777
Biggest thing I'd say to look into is the year of the engines and what your model year is. Assuming the EJ20 is an OBD1 engine, I would think you'd be able to swap everything over pretty easily. May want to ask these guys as well http://www.bbs.legacycentral.org http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums
