brus brother
We've been having a cold spell here in the northeast. On the real cold mornings the brakes are real stiff until warmed up. It caught me off guard the first time and I had to basically stand on the brakes to stop the car. All is well after a few stomps and after the car has warmed up. Is this common for you guys in the forever cold region or is this just a case of moisture in some old brake fluid giving me a hard time?
calebz
I have never had that happen with any of my wagons.. Never heard of it being common.. you might post your question on the old Gen board where there are more GL/Loyale drivers.. It does sound a bit like moisture in the fluid. 99obw
I would dissasemble the brakes and make sure that all slides and guides are properly lubricated. Bleeding them couldn't hurt.
nickb21
When was the last time you bled/flushed the brake fluid? I noticed some brake stiffness on my 02 when it was -15F until it warmed up, I'm chalking it up to moisture and plan on flushing the fluid when it gets a bit warmer.. 99 has a good point to check the slides as well. Legacy777
goin to move this to the old gen side since the loyal has more model years with the older cars.
Nomad
My 89 DL <pretty much same as Loyale> wagon does the same thing. Course, i'm pretty sure it's brake fluid hasn't ever been flushed; not many ppl think to do it. Soon as springtime comes, i'm going to do that... Also, 99obw's got the right idea about the guides. My car's got a rear disc kit on it, so I'll need to check those too. Good Luck!
