kiwishooter
While searching for some parts for my swap, a EJ22 into a Brumby ute, at the local Subaru wreckers I came across a 1800 Legacy wagon, first registered in NZ in 1992. The thing that made this Legacy stand out is that it had a 4wd gearbox that had Hi/Lo ratio and centre diff lock. The centre diff lock button was set into the gear shift knob. (wish I had known that before building my gearbox) One other gearbox I found, still attached to a EJ18 was a 4wd gearbox with centre diff lock but no Hi/Lo ratio. Were these gearboxes available elsewhere in the world?? If not I'm pretty sure I can start exporting them
bheinen74
nice find. Did you go ahead and pull it? we do want these. had a 4.11 rear i think.
Yo'J
I think they made it to japan, the UK and Australia only. I wish we had them here in the US. Its a foolish thing not to have them here. Maybe they don't wear out fast enough for importation.

kiwishooter
Looks like a few in the US are interested in these gearboxes, shipping will be the real expensive part probably. I will see what I can find out on shipping. The gearbox I made up for my Brumby was a late model Hi/Lo as it had a syncro for reverse, but I had to remove the syncro setup as the RX centre diff housing didn't have the locating holder for it. hatchsub
By any chance roaming the yards do you stumble on EA81 era things..such as the dual carb motor? Just had to ask.
kiwishooter
There are a few EA81's lying around but no I haven't seen any twin carb motors, can't say I have seen any here in NZ.
Twitch de la Brat
Many of here in the states would almost kill for one. Me included. If I had an EJ d/r with diff lock, my car would be UNSTOPPABLE!!! Twitch

Twitch de la Brat
Well' date=' after the Mad Max armor is done![/quote'] Of course... Plus considering how many times my poor lego has smacked its front lip (or been smashed into), mad max armor is looking like a very viable option. Or at least a bull bar bolted up to the front of it. Then a monster skid plate, roof rack, tailgate spare tire carrier... And then after all this, I'm gonna lift it. Nah, I need a viable street car I'll do all this to the BRAT Twitch
