BruceT
I have a 98 Subaru outback that needs its third hg at 175,000 mi. I want to replace the engine with the more reliable ej22. My complete engine # is ej25daxdyl, not sure what all the extra letters mean. So does an ej22 drop right in and bolt right up and does the wiring harness plug right in, or are there some modifications that are necessary? Will my computer recognize the ej22 sensors? Also, with the Japanese engines is there an issue of ‘left hand drive’ vs. US ‘right hand drive’? How hard is it to find a decent used engine? Like better than 50%? davebugs
Search will tell you all you need to know. Then ask SPECIFIC questions if you have any. A lot of us do these swaps frequently.
wtdash
Welcome to USMB. And don't buy a '95 EJ22 from a 5-speed (doesn't have the EGR). Been there, done that! Td Edited August 17, 2009 by wtdash duped
