SUBIgoNEwer
Are cvaxles supposed to move in and out from the tranny? My first suby. any help on that would be appreciated...
idosubaru
They have *some* play to them by design. The better questions are: What problem are you trying to track down. Obviously you just didn't to go playing with a CV axle one day. And then what vehicle and details of it?
SUBIgoNEwer
I have 91' loyale EA82. I just decided to wiggle each side with my hand and they were both equally loose. I never felt any reason to other than to check things out for myself as the previous owner says he did all the work/replacement himself, noting new cvaxles. Durania
It does sound normal to me. I suggest making sure you have roll pins on the tranny side and that your axle nuts are tight on the wheel side.

The shaft having a slight in and out play is normal but if the cups can slide away from the trans that on the other hand isn't. I concur with the check the roll pins, they can be little buggers to get in sometimes.
