thegreensquid
Hello. First, allow me to preemptively apologize if this isn't how things are done and if I'm committing some kind of forum no no. However, I am about to travel back to school, and the hood release on my 1988 GL 10 is broken. We are currently trying to get the grill off to see if we can pop the hood manually, but to no avail. Do any of you knowledgeable folks know how to the grill off of a 1988 GL10 Wagon? Thank you in advance.
4x4_Welder
The screws are only accessible from the top- with the hood open. Did the handle just break off the cable? I have used baby vise grips in that situation, in one case I bought a car with them, and made sure to grab them before I scrapped it.
thegreensquid
No, it seems the cable broke. How did you use the vice grips? Oh, one other question, what kind of screwdriver should I use on those screws? Edited August 22, 2009 by thegreensquid
mudduck
You can acces the latch from underneath with a coat hanger or lenth of wire. Follow the sheathing that the cable goes through to the latch. There should be a hole where you can hook the wire and pull down to get the hood to pop. Save the piece that came out in your hand from inside thje car. You can atatch this to the latch mechenism when you get the hood open to pop the hood from out side.
