Suzam
Did it do it before the tune-up, right after or come on later?
redovermind
i got the car from my aunt. it was bought in canada then brought to Arizona for most of its life. ive had it now for about 2 years. the tune up was done before i got it. but i dont drive the car that much. the hesitation was alwasy there but its geting worse. do you think it might be worth getting another tune up. or doing the plugs and wires. i here its a hard job to do the plugs
forester2002s
Have you done a search for 'hesitation' on this board? There have been dozens of similar questions here, with loads of commentary.
DiscoStu
I remember telling the dealer about the same problem soon after I purchased my 99 OBW. They said it was a known problem, they said they could fix it by reflashing the computer with newer firmware, but I would suffer fuel economy. I chose not to do it. It still hesitates 10 years later. redovermind
dealer siad it was a common problem. does the loss of power come with the hesitation. it just seems there is a lack of power too
Fairtax4me
Could be a vacuum leak, or a dirty MAF sensor. How's the fuel mileage?
forester2002s
I drive a 2002 Forester MT. I find that hesitation is worse if I start the engine and then drive off immediately. However if I start the engine, wait about 10-seconds and then drive off, then there is no hesitation.
redovermind
Could be a vacuum leak, or a dirty MAF sensor. How's the fuel mileage? not good. or at lest i think not good 40L gets me 370KM don't know the gallons to miles thing
Fairtax4me
That's about 9.25kpl, or 22mpg, which should be normal for "city" driving. Stop and go traffic, that kinda thing. If that's your highway mileage, cruising ~ 100kph, then something is probably wrong.
