brat strut mount

Recommended Posts

why do these only last 2 years? the rubber seperates and when i jack my car up the strut falls down. i have same problem with subaru ones or aftermarket. so its inspection time and need to fix. should i remove the rubber and weld the plate into the mount. then i wouldnt have the rubber isolation but thats ok. just dont want to spend 150 again. is there a better mount or one to retrofit onto 84 brat strut/ with 6 inch lift

Jeff (One Eye) has a big @** jug of Gorilla Glue in his shop, and one time I asked him what he needed that much Gorilla Glue for. He told me that his Brat strut rubbers seperated from time to time, and that is his fix. Might want to PM him about it, and get his opinion. But, I haven't seen his Brat have any front strut rubber problems since I've known him, so, it must work pretty good.

Sure sounds better than $150.

now you're at the weakpoint I was last at with my '82.... on a stock brat, they will last a long time, but if you wheel hard, they won't last long.... you could try adapting a different strut maybe. there's not a good way to weld it up, as that's the strut pivot point when you turn....

I know there's been some that have retrofit gen1 front struts in, but I don't know that they are any different in that area....
