Jonv23
Did you ever hear what happened to the other engine? I went back to the first page and looked at all the pics you posted in progression. It was an awesome BRAT! Very very nice restore! (although I really dig the plaid seats) I haven't had my Brat out of the storage for 21 months! I have been driving my Subaru 360 Pick Up. Pooparu
Nope, I never got any word on the engine. I dug the plaid too, but the upholstery shop wasn't able to get a plaid so that's what I went with. Did you ever hear what happened to the other engine? Jonv23
Don't get me wrong, the new upholstery was nice, but with the plaid you KNOW you're sitting in a late 70's - early 80's Subie. The driver seat on mine is torn, (blue plaid) and I found another back on ebay for 1.00 that nobody bid on. It is for passenger side, but I am having the upholstery shop use that to fix mine. asis
Awesome! If I can get mine to look half that good at 55 MPH I'll still be satisfied. BTW is that Cashmere beige or pale yellow...? or sumin totally different? I think its the same color mine is (kinda whats left neway) Also what running gear were you referring too? Curious because I have an EA81 D/R 4spd in my, 80' but it seems to run about 3k higher RPM at 60mph than GD's EA81 Hatch...?

Whoever swapped the D/R and EA81 into your Brat must have used one from an 81 or an 82. -Bill
asis
Ahk thx, makes sense then that mine will cruise through town at 25mph in 3rd nice n happy and GD says his is luggin... He may actually have told me about the gearing also, but he told me alot and I slept since then
Jibs
That sucks to hear about the brat. Did you help out on your own accord? When you sold it on ebay it wasn't AS-IS? There was a gen1 brat at pnp here, and I tried grabbing the gas pedal for you, but there was so much old dirt built up on it that I ended up breaking it. Pooparu
It was sold as is and it even said so on the bill of sale, but I thought I'd help the guy out under my own accord. asis
Hey poop, I am seriously interested in the color of your BRAT, and where you may have acquired the color. I would like to have some to use as I patch up my own one hole at a time. I am not a fly by night hillbilly, just a hillbilly but one with a clue... would appreciate any help TIA
Pooparu
It was a stock macco color. It was a close match, but not exact. ITBandit
Nice ride, i picked up an 81' brat last year to steal parts off of, but it doesn't run, in fact the heads have been pulled off and the cylinders are a lil' rusty, startin' to feel like i paid too much for it. I'm hoping to get my 79' looking half as good as that, keeping the old carpet for now, just put it through another hose-down and cleaning scrub/ vacuum treatment, i think the old smells are finally out Edited July 8, 2012 by ITBandit Didn't read the whole Post :p
