john40iowa
Last Winter we had several substantial Ice storms. On one occasion my car ('99 Forester) had a solid ¼ inch of ice on it and ( wearing heavy coat etc.) I accidentally hit the windshield wiper control turning it on! The motor survived, however, the transmission mechanism did not- intolerable play in the wipers. No the blade arms are not loose, that would be too easy. My question is: How does one separate these white plastic connectors- of end to the apparatus, ( I have a solid replacement unit) and then reconnect them? Thank in advance for any pointers! john in KY
If it is what I think it is, they just pop part. Ball and socket type.
john40iowa
OK, so I need to wedge a flat head screw driver in and pop it open?
lmdew
The plastic ends are part of the rod and Subaru sells them as a unit. Best bet is to get the linkage from the junk yard. They just pop off the ball ends and right back on.
ferret
Yes, in fact here's a Forester writeup: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f92/wtb-piece-wiper-linkage-24251/

I have had the plastic cowling fascia off once before; not much open real estate to work with here. Can I finagle the entire thing in through the opening above the blower motor?
