kaki
My fellow Subaru people, I am a Legacy guy, also currently working on my '87 RX turbo coupe(to play in the snow:).I am considering an SVX addition to my collection since they are really cheap around here.If intending to do a 5-speed swap, whats the best EJ tranny to use inorder to handle the 230 horsepower? With what adjustments?Any extra stuff needed?Someone once suggested that these cars are utterly useless,I hope that this is not a waste of time.Any advise will be much appreciated. Thanks! bheinen74
first things importantly is the year of the SVX, cause the 92-95 was obd1 and you can swap and not have a permanent check engine light. if the SVX is 96-97, then you cannot swap......due to permanent engine check light and limp mode due to it...... zukiru
they can have fun lugging that extra thousand pounds around the track, then and the only reason I don't have one is the auto and how heavy it is.

Actually, by putting a 5 or 6spd in, its dropping weight. The 4EAT is one heavy SOB. And I cant believe thats the only reason you dont have one
zukiru
that should read : reasons they are all auto and I don't want to have to swap one and they are heavy. and not too common around here. but there have been a couple I could have had... but with having to put in a five speed and somehow get rid of the wood grain.... nah,..
