WoodsWagon
You could probably run a FWD 5spd end cover and shifter, you don't need the transfer assembly anymore and the d/r part is in the front of the case. That would shorten up the tranny under your knees.

That would shorten up the tranny under your knees. FWD fivespeeds are totally different. Shift rod in a different spot in the case. You can't just put a FWD cap on the end of the 4wd Trans. The lower shaft is way to long.

Scott in Bellingham
Interesting for sure. I hope that front diff on the d/r holds. ! me too, its turning a 4.1 diff so there should be less stress on it and if anything give seems like it would be the rear drive axle/driveshaft on the D/R last night I removed and axle off the Toyota Taco Rear the wheel bearing was shot, Ive never had one apart, figured out how it went, I checked an old 2WD rear I had and to my wonderful surprize the bearing and housing were the same so I swappped them out with the help of a press and now I have good wheel bearings WOOO hOO , tonight I removed the Diff and welded it up , so were gettin ready , will be takin it out on the 16th of Oct to walker

Scott in Bellingham
did you weld the front diff so it,s locked in 4wd all the time? . no probably wont, may not want to turn if I do, also the front diff is a rear diff with the hollow diff stubs , so I dont want to break it, may install a LSD up front
