Pulled the EA82 (webberized) from my '87 GL for a rebuild. Got it all cleaned up and taken apart down to the short block.

-Painted all pulleys, misc brackets, upper strut brace, hard pipes and oil pan, valve covers

-New Water pump just got installed instead of studying for school...

-ordered oem oil relief springs, thermostat, oil filter

-made block-off plates for the air suck valve ports in the heads and egr on intake manifold

-Plugged egr on top of passenger side head with new 16mm x 1.25 oil drain plug (looks good)

-Valve stem seals

-Fel Pro permatorques

-Sent HLA's to Mispah for rebuild

-resurfaced heads, flywheel (new sachs clutch kit)

-reseal entire engine, all oil pump seals/gaskets

Shoot, I will just make another thread to keep track of this thing. There are so many points to list that I won't do it all here. Any suggestions, while I'm at it?

Very nice!

I've been thinking of doing a full rebuild on an EA82, maybe port the heads and manifold a bit, lol.

I did the tailgate outside handle and bracket that holds the tag lights on my 96 legacy wagon . ( original one rusted to garbage ) Thanks to Sunset Subaru , in Sarasota , Fl. ! They ordered and shipped me every bolt - screw - plastic insert I needed to do the entire job , once again confirming why I love Subaru's , nice engineering and design , easy to get apart and back together , 30 minutes total . The rest of the car is almost completely rust free ! I love these cars !

The way I see it, it's just an EA82. Make it reliable and enjoy doing the work. Go for the porting if you have the time to enjoy doing it yourself. Otherwise make that thing purrrr and be done with it.

Oh, I forgot to mention I painted the oil fill cap.

Replaced the fuel filter, the two O2 sensors, the neutral switch and reinstalled the splash plate on the underside on Bonnie (the 02 Outback).

Ran fuel lines, ran wires, installed the XT6 axles (the legacy ones were too long), and bled the brakes on the Panda Wagon. Going to Tucson tomorrow morning to get some hardware and maybe find a XT pitching stopper and bracket to help the wheel hop I will get with that EZ30 under the hood. Still working on what kind of radiator to put in there....ain't a whole lotta room in there.zzz

Haha yeah, I know what I'm getting into. The reason why I'm entertaining the idea of porting is because these engines suck, are cheap, and plentiful. So there isn't much consequence if I ruin a head from overporting, etc.

Fixed a bad alternator wire, adapted some high-performance plug wires to the sube.

I have the trans torn down in my 86. I woke up last night thinking about a thin metal part I didn't see when I was getting parts ready to put back together. So this morning I found it, Crap It looked bent up so I worked about 45 min to get it to where I thought it should look. Guess what! It was supose to be how I found it. Big Bozo move.:-\

Cool. Let us know how it turns out. TAKE SOME PICTURES.

Almost forgot the non tangential information: Today I picked up oil with my girlfriend for her 2004 Impreza Sport. FYI, Valvoline synth blend is on sale at Oriely's auto parts (CSK).

Hmmm... this weekend....

I pulled both fuel senders on my 89' Legacy as I had a bit of a problem with it dropping to zero around the 3/4 mark. Got a DMM on it and turned out it had a broken spot between 3/4 and 1/2 so I went to the junkyard and got another one, plugged it in and it goes sweet.

Finally did four new CV boots on the front axles - turns out they're a lot more annoying to do than the EA82s. Still, got them done.

Also fixed the bonnet latch - turned out the support for it was just bent enough for it to not close unless you really slammed it.

Picked up a junkyard window rubber for the drivers door at the same time - my one was really warped and made it difficult for the window to wind itself up. A bit fiddly bending the tabs out and in but it's good as new now :)

Plus, an oil change and new coolant, and a good cut-and-polish to make it really shine. :D

Haha, yeah man. I'll take pics. I might even take my old cracked heads to a bandsaw so I can get some cross-section pics.

Oreilly's? lol, I just got a job there like 2 weeks ago.
